About Kohath
Origin of Kohath Ministries
God has created each of us with gifts, skills and passions that are unique. For over 15 years, Jack Cohen had been using his to pastor, teach and minister to a local church congregation and promote acceptance of Jesus Christ into the lives of his parishioners. For almost 20 years, Jill Cohen had been using her talents in a business environment to promote and sell the products and services of her company around the world. While both of them made positive contributions in these areas, they each felt a call of God to do more. In December of 2007, Jack and Jill began to talk about this calling and felt strongly that God was leading them to put their talents together in a new ministry focused on fulfilling the "Great Commission" Christ gave to all Christians in Matthew 28:19:
”Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you…”
With this passage as their guide, Jack and Jill formed "Kohath Ministries" and began seeking opportunities to share the Good News of Jesus with more people, more frequently and in more impactful ways than they had been able to do before. Even in the early stages, the vision Jack and Jill had was clear: to extend Christ's message to people around the world by using multiple communication methods which break geographic and physical boundaries.
Starting with the home base of Haven Community Church, Kohath Ministries first extended into “Spiritual Renewal Encounters” in Lower Delaware and establishing website presence and connection. Going forward, Kohath has plans to extend into other forums and opportunities (Retreats, Conferences, Support services, Internet tools and resources, mission trips) as well.
In the Old Testament, the "Kohathites" were the priests in charge of the "Most Holy Things" of God including the Ark of the Covenant and the sacred lampstands and tables of the tabernacle. When the Israelites moved from place to place, the Kohathites carried these items, and as a result, were responsible to bring the "presence of God" to the people. That, too, is the goal of Kohath ministries… to find ways to enable God's word and presence to be heard, felt, seen and experienced in the lives of people.
Although Jack and Jill began the ministry, both of them see "Kohath" as GOD's ministry, not theirs, and have put His will and guidance first.
